Stargate Command UK is split up into three
distinct types of role play, "Stargate Recon",
"Stargate Olympus" and "Stargate City Life".
You'll be able to read in details using the
links above. Below we have added a brief
description of each of our role plays to help
those of you who are new to the role play
concept. |

What is Air-soft? |
|
Air-soft is a combat sport similar to Paintball
in which participants eliminate opponents by
hitting them with (6 mm or occasionally 8 mm)
plastic BBs (small, spherical balls) launched
from air-soft guns, that can be powered by CO2,
Green Gas, spring, or electrically powered
gearboxes actuating a piston. Participants
typically use varying types of weapons designed
as replicas of real firearms, tactical gear, and
accessories used by military and police
organizations. In North America and Europe,
there is a growing interest in airsoft. |

What is Live Role-Playing (L.A.R.P)? |
|
The world around you turns at
a slower pace than the life you live. The
decision to live your life at this pace or
faster or indeed slower is always up to you! But
remember to change the pace either up or down
every now and then you will always have variety
in your life! There are some that control
darkness, and some that let it control them.
Then there are the very few that do not control
it, nor let it control them. The difference is
what makes us who we are. “A bunch of people, in
the woods, beating each other with latex
weapons? I make that pimps O’clock!” Seriously
though this is not the case! (We don’t always go

So what is L.A.R,P? |
|
Live-Role Playing (L.A.R.P) or
as it is sometimes called Live Action
Role Play (L.A.R.P) is a game played
out in fantasy worlds where the players get the
chance to decide the destinies of worlds and
universes and everything within it. The action
of the players controls and decides the shape of
things to come, each action will set of a series
of events that can and will alter from something
wonderful to utter despair, which way the
‘story’ goes will be up to the players the
entire fate of the world lies within their
hands. The game is run by the ref it follows a
basic story called ‘the plot’ written by the ref
it is an idea of what needs to be done and a
motivation towards a common goal for the
players, how it will unfold is up to them. The
aim is to discover the plot through all the
intrigues and subterfuges laid down by the
organisers ‘story’. But this game is not played
on a PC or a “table-top”. It is played “live”
where knights charge in real armour, wizards
conjure mighty spells to ward off ancient evils,
Soldiers wage war against a supernatural foe,
Cyborgs and Cyber evils try to destroy mankind
and the world as we know it is always coming to
an end. These events are acted out by people
playing the game most wear a full costume and
use props to help their mind envisage the
character they are playing and the fantasy world
they are in, so if you are fed-up with watching
repeats on TV or sitting in front of a computer
screen, come and Live the excitement and

What is e-mail play by post role-play |
|
The entire purpose of e-mail play by post
role-playing is to write an interactive
story by collaborating with other players. A
moderator sets the stage and choreographs the
story, while your character is an actor with
other characters having their parts to play as
well. It is very similar to a group of people
writing a novel, with each person adding their
paragraph into the book. |

To do this, you must take on the personality of
a character you create and write his/her
reactions; including actions, thoughts, and
speech to the situations the moderators and
other characters have created. In essence, a
character is an imaginary friend that you bring
to life and develop. |
|
Like theatre, there is a stage with a backdrop
of scenery and history that has been already
created by both moderators and players. The
character you will make will join this
production and act with other players'
characters to produce a wonderful show of pure
creativity. You control your character's
actions, ideas, feelings and words. |
